LinkedIn Reimagined

2016 - ACCOMPLISHED IN 24 HOURS

LinkedIn is an app I use daily to get updates on how my friends are doing career-wise, to add to and cultivate my professional network, and to stay up-to-date on the business influencers I follow.

Problem: How can we make a seemingly "corporate" app more inviting and friendlier across all industries? Can a brand refresh do this? What product updates can we make?

I asked several of my peers what they disliked about their experience with LinkedIn. Many were dissatisfied with how many useless notifications they were getting. The redesign strips the "Networks" function on the bottom bar, and replaces it with "Jobs," one of LinkedIn's biggest vertical. (As of January 2017, LinkedIn now has this on their UI!)

A New Shade of Cool

The current LinkedIn blue felt corporate and washed out. In this refresh, the blue is changed to a friendlier and more versatile shade of cool. The “i’s” in both words “Linked” and “In” have been changed to a quarter circle for an approacheable look and feel. Less scary to hit that connect button to the person you just connected with at a job fair? Yes.

Immersive Feed

A new typeface is introduced: Circular, inviting the user to read legibly and comfortably. In addition to its typeface, the news feed is reintroduced as a full, immersive experience. Icons were also created from scratch with rounded corners.
